Technology has disrupted virtually every aspect of our lives, why should raising capital be any different? According to a recent report by Grand View Research, although the global crowdfunding market is still fairly small compared to traditional means of corporate finance (it was valued at approximately $1.7B USD in 2022), the industry is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.7% through 2030. Crowdfunding investments in the United Kingdom (which became legal in 2010) already outpace traditional angel investment in that country and emerging markets in India and the Middle East are on a similar trajectory. In the United States, investment crowdfunding is less than a decade old (having started in 2016) but there are more than 1.3 million active investors on these sites (as of 2021) with an increasing number of companies using sites like Angelist and WeFunder to fund entire rounds or fill out existing rounds from investors around the world. In the real estate space, crowdfunding offerings under Regulation A and Regulation D have offered developers an alternative source of capital for their project stacks while providing investors with an unparalleled ability to pick and choose which projects they want to invest in quickly and easily from the comfort of their own home. Join us for a conversation where we will unpack some of the opportunities that exist in this space and learn more about how you can leverage these opportunities to further your business or investment portfolio.
